Gloria’s Restaurants Owners Awarded Immigrant Journey Trailblazer Award
Jose Fuentes and Gloria Rubio, owners of Gloria’s Restaurants received the 2011 Immigrant Entrepreneur Award. The Awards were hosted at The Park City Club with guest speaker, noted New York Times columnist and author, Ganand Giridharadas. Every year the Badmus Law firm gives this award to honor those immigrants who have shown the courage and fortitude to create a successful life in their newly adopted country. The Immigrant Journey Awards include four categories: The Immigrant Entrepreneur Award, The Immigrant Professional Excellence Award, The Immigrant Spirit Award, and The Immigrant Advocate Award. Both Gloria and Jose were both honored and humbled to win Immigrant Entrepreneur Award and to be included in such an outstanding group of immigrant trailblazers. Jose thanks Badmus, Citibank and his hardworking employees for making Gloria’s a favorite spot for so many across Texas. According to Jose, the most important thing to remember is that “the award celebrates the basic human right for freedom of choice,” and because this nation has that freedom, it “allows human beings to build their future wherever they see opportunities”

Dallas Observer Best of Award "Best Margarita" Bishop Ave. 2011
DALLAS OBSERVERS BEST MARGARITA
A purist might scoff, but sometimes you order a margarita with one explicit purpose. If getting tanked is your goal, then your best margarita can be found at Gloria's. Sure they use a mix, but at least they use it sparingly. The drinks arrive barely tinted with sours and almost clear with alcohol. That first sip? Rocket fuel! But things will even out soon enough. Keep drinking while you munch on free chips with salsa and black bean dip, and then order a second round. Still think this might not be the best margarita in town? Order a third, and repeat this process as necessary. Given time, and an iron stomach, eventually you'll agree that Gloria’s has the best margarita in Dallas.

Gloria’s Restaurants Announce New El Salvador Dishes
El Salvador is the smallest, yet most densely populated country in Central America. It is a small country with a culture heavily influenced by Spanish Europeans, which explains the unique flavors of popular Salvadorian dishes. Texas' warm weather has reminded us of the beautiful tropical weather of El Salvador and has inspired us to create two new flavorful dishes. Try our Huachinango Sarteneado, a pan seared red snapper or our Costa del Sol Huachinango, a chili rubbed red snapper. Both dishes are served with a corn salsa, sautéed in a white wine garlic sauce, and set on a bed of rice with asparagus spears.
Gloria's Uptown Restaurant guests, have you tried our Cucumber Mojito exclusive to our Uptown location? Stop by and give it a taste and let us know what you think! We're dying to know, how long have you been going to Gloria's and why do you keep coming back?
Gloria’s is a Salvadorian restaurant known and distinguished for our tasty Latin American Food. Want to learn more about Gloria’s? Visit www.gloriasrestaurants.com and take a look at their delicious Salvadorian Menu.

Gloria's Restaurants To Open In Houston's Midtown
Gloria’s Restaurants will soon be leaving for Houston to open its newest location in Midtown. This is an exciting day for owners Jose and Gloria Fuentes because Houston is where they originally met after fleeing El Salvador during its civil war in the late 70’s. They are currently in talks with Bruce Molzan one of the current owners of the historic Ruggles Grill which is located on the 900 block of Westheimer. If all goes as planned Jose and Gloria will demolish the 40 year old 26,000 sq. ft. Ruggles Grill to build a new 7,500 sq. ft. restaurant. This location is to be the first of 4 locations that will be opening in the greater Houston area. They also plan on opening additional locations in Sugar Land, The Woodlands, and West University. “Houston is a huge international market, and the competition is going to be very tough, but we will succeed there,” said Fuentes. Gloria’s just recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and has 12 locations in the DFW area and one in Austin.
