Gloria’s Restaurants Announce New El Salvador Dishes

El Salvador is the smallest, yet most densely populated country in Central America. It is a small country with a culture heavily influenced by Spanish Europeans, which explains the unique flavors of popular Salvadorian dishes. Texas' warm weather has reminded us of the beautiful tropical weather of El Salvador and has inspired us to create two new flavorful dishes. Try our Huachinango Sarteneado, a pan seared red snapper or our Costa del Sol Huachinango, a chili rubbed red snapper. Both dishes are served with a corn salsa, sautéed in a white wine garlic sauce, and set on a bed of rice with asparagus spears.

Gloria's Restaurants To Open In Houston's Midtown

Gloria’s Restaurants will soon be leaving for Houston to open its newest location in Midtown.  This is an exciting day for owners Jose and Gloria Fuentes because Houston is where they originally met after fleeing El Salvador during its civil war in the late 70’s.  They are currently in talks with Bruce Molzan one of the current owners of the historic Ruggles Grill which is located on the 900 block of Westheimer.  If all goes as planned Jose and Gloria will demolish the 40 year old 26,000 sq. ft. Ruggles Grill to build a new 7,500 sq. ft. restaurant. This location is to be the first of 4 locations that will be opening in the greater Houston area.  They also plan on opening additional locations in Sugar Land, The Woodlands, and West University.   “Houston is a huge international market, and the competition is going to be very tough, but we will succeed there,” said Fuentes.  Gloria’s just recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and has 12 locations in the DFW area and one in Austin.

Rockwall Concert By The Lake Sponsored By Gloria’s

We all love concerts, who doesn’t, but come to The Harbor Amphitheater in Rockwall, TX on Thursday nights starting at 7:30 p.m. and you can love them for free.  The free concerts scheduled from May 5^th to August 18^th helps make good on Rockwall’s boast of being the “Live Music Capital of North Texas.”   Concerts are family friendly and start at 7:30 and run till 9 p.m. every Thursday evening for the remainder of the summer.   The concerts by the lake will feature country, rock, classic rock, zydeco, blues, pop and variety bands.  Hosting a wide variety of musical styles should give everyone across the metroplex a chance to come out and enjoy the concerts by the lake all summer long.  Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on but are asked to pick up the area before they leave.  With plenty of dining choices right on the water there is no need to bring your own food or drinks.  You can choose from Salvadorian, Mexican, Cajun and American food, so stop by before or after the concert for food and drinks.  The Rockwall Parks & Recreation Department hosts this event every year and with the help of local event sponsors like Gloria’s Rockwall, Rockwall Ford and others, the concert by the lake series should be a fixture for years to come.

Gloria’s Restaurant Opens new Restaurant in the Bishop Arts District

With Gloria’s Restaurants going 13 locations strong and one soon to be added in Houston, this past April 11^th 2011 something strange happened at one of their locations recently, it closed.  You may be wondering which location, the location that started it all 25 years ago in Oak Cliff.  While many locals called the evening bittersweet, many were excited because the new Gloria’s opened a couple of nights later on Gloria’s 25^th anniversary at the historic Fire Station No. 15 building, April 14^th, 2011.  While Gloria’s Restaurants boast a very modern exterior, the owners Jose and Gloria Fuentes agreed to keep the historic look and feel of the building because of the areas conservation district requirements.  While many loved the first location, its lack of parking and 2,700 square feet of space made it a necessity to find a new location.  The new location boasts about 5,000 square feet of space nearly doubling the size of the old location.  The Fire Station also has 2 different levels for patio lounging.  While the inside has been totally renovated to look sleek and beautiful, there is still one piece of history that still remains, the fire pole.  If you haven’t visited our newest location yet, come by and have a margarita with us!
